CSQ Funding

Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent, not-for-profit, industry funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices, trainees and career seekers in the building and construction industry by subsidising training for eligible participants. 

CSQ provides funding to RTOs to provide training to eligible workers in the building and construction industry. The CSQ funding also provides assistance to unemployed eligible workers that have had experience in the industry.

AIT are proud recipients of CSQ funding in 2022-24 for short courses programs.

Eligible participants can choose up to a maximum of 8 short courses across 2 programs.  Of the 8 short courses, there is a restriction of a maximum of 3 high risk licence units and 3 units that start with RIIMPO.

For most courses, there are low or no out of pocket expenses for eligible participants. 

Eligible participants must be:

  • An Eligible Worker employed in the Queensland Building and Construction Industry; OR
  • Self-Employed in the Building and Construction Industry in Queensland; OR
  • An Unemployed Eligible Worker who has been unemployed for no more than 4 years and can demonstrate previous employment in the Building and Construction Industry; OR
  • An active apprentice or trainee, registered in Queensland, undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship as per the CSQ approved listing

You must be working on residential or commercial buildings which includes, construction,  renovations, extensions and outfitting interiors of buildings (for example, cabinetry, plumbing, electrical) or land development and preparation of sites for construction.                                           

You must also be:

  • An Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or
  • A Visa holder with relevant permission to work AND study in Australia

When applying for CSQ funding, you will be asked to supply supporting documents with your application that provide identification and  evidence that you meet the eligibility criteria.
