The Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Skills Assessment and Gap Training (SAGT) program aims to provide a pathway for eligible individuals in the Queensland Building and Construction Industry and Career Seekers who possess significant industry experience, to have their existing skills recognised and to receive the gap training required to achieve nationally recognised Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations RII30820.

Participant Eligibility:

  •  A participant who has the right to work in Australia and is an eligible worker or unemployed eligible worker in Queensland;


  •  Able to demonstrate Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in 70% or more of the competencies required to complete the full qualification.


The full Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations consists of 20 units of competency.  You must be able to demonstrate skills/experience in at least 14 of these units to meet the funding guidelines.

  • An apprentice or trainee;
  • Previously funded under this program in the same funding year;
  • Through direct credit, achieve more than 50% of the minimum number of units required to complete the qualification;
  • An employee of an Authority (other than an employee of a local council);
  • Currently enrolled and participating in a secondary school program:
  • A contracted trainer/assessor working for or on behalf of an RTO;
  • Already funded by an Authority or other source for the same training being undertaken as part of the relevant program (for example through Cert 3 Guarantee or employer funded program);
  • Seeking verification of competency.

Program Details: 

  • Eligible participants must undertake a Skills and Gap Assessment with one of the trainer/assessors at the RTO;
  • If eligible to proceed after the assessment, participants will be requested to enter into a training plan for the gap training competencies that are required to complete the qualification;
  • Participants must undertake a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 gap training competencies for this qualification
