This course is a mandatory 2 day course for drivers that need to transport dangerous goods and hazardous substances. It covers the requirements of the Australian Dangerous Goods Code (ADG) and state regulatory requirements for transport of dangerous goods by road. Drivers needing to renew a dangerous goods licence also have to complete the mandatory 2 day training.
The course includes a Competent Authority mandated assessment which is a closed book assessment that must be successfully completed with no assistance. Participants have up to 3 attempts to successfully complete the assessment before having to undertake training again. On successful completion of the course, participants are issued a Statement of Attainment.
Once the course Statement of Attainment has been received, drivers have 6 months to obtain a medical certificate for Dangerous Goods licensing and present the application for DG license, medical certificate and Statement of Attainment to the relevant state’s Competent Authority to apply for a DG license. AIT has partnered with Kullaru Training in Darwin to deliver this course in the Northern Territory.
